hello (or like they all say here) hallo !!
after an 8 1/2 hour delay at the jfk airport on tuesday, i boarded my flight to zurich and made it here by wednesday afternoon. all of the nerves set in right when the plane landed....all of the sudden i remembered what my mom said about the overwhelming feelings that come when you are in a completely different place, surrounded by completely different people, who speak a completely different language !! haha. and boy was she right ! (like she usually is) (;
i luckily made an american friend during the delay at jfk and she kindly assisted me while at the zurich airport, helping me through customs, gathering my luggage, and finding out how i was getting to haag where the family lives. to my surprise i had to take a taxi and MY GOODNESS IT WAS AWFUL! (i am going to keep this blog 100% honest!) the driver had never heard of haag before (yikes!), he couldn't speak english (besides telling me that he couldn't, haha), and he was falling asleep in the car nearly the whole time (worst part of it all) plus he charged the family a fortune upon my arrival (i felt so bad) . i still can't believe we didn't get in a serious wreck....but like my mom and dad said on FaceTime, "it only gets better from there!" and they are right..!!
so with all of that in mind, i was in quite a panic mode when i got to the house + i was starting to feel so exhausted from traveling. however, the mum (maren) and the three boys (julien, sean, and finley) welcomed me and showed me around the house.
below are some pictures; enjoy!
