FIRST STOP: MILAN ITALY
I cannot even tell you how long I've dreamt of taking a trip to italy. I feel like it's a place that is on everyones bucket list + if it isn't, you should go add it right now; it lived up to every expectation + then some!
WHY DID YOU GO TO MILAN + WHERE DID YOU STAY?
long story short, we were supposed to stay with a young lady (from my brothers two year mission for church) that lives just outside of milan, but due to a family event she was unable to host us + ended up inviting us to stay with one of her friends. so, we did just that; went and stayed with complete strangers that we now consider dear friends. *it's amazing that the church provides connections for us everywhere we go!*
the best part is their last name; PASTA....I mean how much more italian does it get than that?!?! (;
but honestly, they were the most gracious + kind hosts that cooked the best (authentic) italian food for us, gave us a history lesson of their beautiful town, took us to their huge mall, and welcomed us into their home. I will forever be grateful for their love + hospitality.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE PLACE/THING THAT YOU SAW?
shay-my favorite part was seeing the duomo. I wish we would've had more time to go see the inside, but WOW ! that is one spectacular building.
cass-I loved seeing the duomo!
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE FOOD?
shay- I LOVED a dish that sister pasta cooked for us sunday night. it was basically quiche without egg--mostly veggies and fresh mozzarella
case-the pizza things we had for dinner was to die for.
WOULD YOU GO BACK?
cass and I really enjoyed our time in milan, but if I were to go back to italy, I would want to visit florence or vienna before heading back to milan. but cass and I agree that we would go back just to visit the pasta family again (:
*I have to add that to every trip there are sweet + sour things that happen. so for my own personal keeping, I would like to record those here so that I never forget!*
SWEET AND SOUR?
the only real sour thing about our milan trip was the weather....BUT a super sweet thing was when sister pasta hand cut garbage bags to fit over our individual suitcases so they wouldn't get muddy + wet! how cute is that?! you'll notice in a bunch of the pictures that we have bright red bags over our suitcases + now you know why!
however, cass and I did a good job to turn that sour into something sweet because we did not let the weather slow us down at all + we ended up seeing everything we originally wanted to!
ciao, for now, milan.
below are some more pictures of our time spent in milan! we only stayed one night there, but really soaked up our time (quite literally because of all the rain!) and saw a lot. cheers to such a great start of our trip!!
