question: "what is a typical day like for you?" answer: everyday is unique in its own way, but my typical day goes something like this:
--i am up and ready for breakfast around 7:45am m-th but on fridays i get to sleep in!! julien goes to kindergarten each morning while the two younger boys stay at home with maren and i. --once julien is gone i typically try to help get sean and finley ready for the day while we practice saying each article of clothing before they get to put them on. (: (on days when they don't like to participate, i still say each name as we go...that way they are still hearing it in english) **it's a miracle if both finely + sean let me help them....usually maren takes one while i take the other. #teamwork --the four hours that i am just with sean+finley each morning are spent playing with every toy in the house (; , eating multiple snacks, making messes everywhere, changing diapers, playing outside, building forts, playing our favorite abc game, coloring/painting, etc. they are very busy boys + have such great imaginations. **i.e. today sean + i made a really awesome island + pirate ship, hunted for treasure, fought sharks in the ocean, acted like pirates, and tried to keep little finley away from all of our chocolate coins. (: while playing, sean tries really hard to speak english but when he doesn't know what to say he starts speaking in german; it's pretty cute. --around 11:45 maren + sean go to the kindergarten to pick julien up while finley + i watch his favorite english show (bob the train) or play with toys. --once they are back it's my break + lunchtime. **on tuesdays + thursdays i am done by noon and have time to go explore, read, email, blog (; , etc. --on m,w,f when all three boys are home, we usually play with legos, build a zoo, play with cars, build with blocks, do a craft, go outside, read some books, dress up, play board games, make puzzles, etc. **during this time i also try to do something one-on-one with julien where he is speaking english the whole time + i am teaching him a new concept. --by 5pm my day with the boys is over + my free time begins. **surprisingly too much free time has been my biggest struggle, but i want to quickly thank each and every person that has stayed in touch in any way. i love and appreciate the prayers, support, love, and concern more than you will ever know.
like i mentioned, each day is unique but filled with so many fun + crazy moments. i learn from these boys everyday; probably more than they are learning from me!! i am amazed at the progress they are making + feel grateful to have such a neat opportunity to help them learn.
